Of course! I’ve just realized a chick is a baby hen.

On my walk this morning I have a really good time racing along and jumping over the muddy ditches. When we get home Mum says she needs to give me a bath. She says I smell terrible – another false human perception. Sometimes I can’t believe what people say.

Mum always says you should be careful what you ask for. I’m being good as gold standing in the warm water in the sink in the utility room, when she declares, ‘I wish this shampoo would come out more quickly!’ What a silly thing to wish for. The top immediately flies off and shampoo gushes out. In no time I’m up to my ears in copious soap bubbles. I can hardly see through the stuff. I struggle and manage to slip out of her hands and along the work surface. She shouts ‘Venus!’ as she tries to catch me. I should have been shouting ‘Mum!’ But she manages to capture me and it takes ages to get all the froth off. Finally, she says I’m ‘squeaky clean’. Wrong again. Does she think I’m a mouse? I’m more like ‘growling clean’.
